Israel: Fourth Biennale Ceramics Exhibition
At the Graduate Exhibition in honor of Bezalel’s 100th aniversary at Ben Gurion Airport, I presented my latest project entitled “Nichsafti” (Craving), which was later chosen to be included in the Fourth Biennale Ceramics Exhibition at the Eretz Israel Museum of Tel Aviv (2006-2007)
“Nichsafti” [Craving]
Nichsafti’s objects Exposition
“Nichsafti” (craving) – Details from Biennale Exposition:
The project is constructed out of an assemblage of objects: sometimes as individuals , sometimes in groups. The project creates an interaction between the different shapes and allows the appearance of new elements.
The project symbolizes the limits and boundaries of the relationships between shapes and different objects, themselves one to another and as a mirror image to the society. For me, the assemblage of elements that evolved created a fascinating dialog between the different objects when shape met shape. The junction between the various entities sometimes gave surprising results that can take time to register in one’s mind.
“My soul craved and even yearned” [Psalm 84, 4]
Technique:
The technique I used to create the objects was based on pure wheel work. After the basic forms were ready, I split the objects to pieces and connected them intuitively together in different ways. Thus, a new object appears with special connections and ties which gives a new meaning to the object.
After biscuit firing the objects, I spray “angob”(a ceramic color) on the objects and fire again.
